Bradford on Avon - a hub for all things wedding!!

Bradford on Avon, a quaint town based in the glorious Wiltshire countryside, eight miles southeast of Bath, is slowly becoming a wonderful hub for all things wedding. This small but vibrant town offers a range of luxurious wedding products from exquisite designer gowns and wedding accessory boutiques to bridal beauty treatments. There are also some magnificent places to dine out, drink cocktails and stay in the area. Everything is walking distance once you’re in town, with plenty of parking and frequent trains from Bath.

Bradford on Avon

One of the prettiest bridal boutiques, Carina Baverstock, offers a magnificent range of designer bridal gowns such as Jenny Packham, David Fielden, Claire Pettibone, Naomi Neoh to name a few. Their window displays always showcase exquisite wedding dresses that never fail to capture the attention of those walking by. There is also another wonderful bridal boutique in town called Perfect Day, with even more beautiful collections from designers such as Belle & Bunty, Jesus Peiro, Justin Alexander, VWDC by Charlie Brear, and Maids to Measure for your bridesmaids. Perfect Day also showcase beautiful bridal shoes by Harriet Wilde.

Britten Wedding Accessories

We, at the Wedding Garter Co., offer a selection of subtle and elegant garters to finish off your bridal outfit. Tulle, silk and lace garters are available for you to feel and try on in the shop, and it’s a great opportunity to meet Sarah who designs and hand-makes every single garter in our boutique here in Bradford on Avon. You will undoubtedly find something that will work wonderfully for you on your day, but if not Sarah might be able to customise a garter from her collection to suit your preferences. Sarah is also the designer behind the beautiful wedding accessories shop, Britten Weddings, which offer brides glamorous pearl and crystal haircombs, hair vines, headbands, hairpins, feather fans, jewellery, and (coming soon!) earrings. She will be adding new pieces to her collection over the next few months.

If you came to town with your partner, you can browse a selection of wedding bands at Orton Jewellers or, purchase a luxurious gift for your husband, or bride-to-be, to open on your wedding day. However, if shopping isn’t your partner’s favourite thing to do there are many cafes and restaurants to relax at. We particularly like the Fat Fowl, right in the centre of Bradford on Avon. They have a wonderful selection of delicious cocktails complemented by a very tasty menu if you’re looking for something to eat. We are particularly partial towards a Kir Royale out on their terrace in the sunshine when the weather is good.

The fabulous Melanie Giles salon has a great selection of bridal treatments available to help get you ready for your big day. This is the perfect way to do something girlie with your mother, bridesmaids or friends, to really start off the wedding celebrations. Britten Weddings has recently blogged about this uber stylish salon and you can read all about it here. To finish off your day out why not think about staying at the Pig in Bath, a hotel that recently opened just 30 minutes from Bradford on Avon . This shabby chic hotel that oozes rustic charm is the perfect location to rest your feet and enjoy a wonderful meal in the authentically reproduced Victorian greenhouse.

Bradford on Avon really is a fantastic place to visit when planning your wedding. There are so many places to see in town to provide inspiration for your big day, and if you do plan a trip to this quaint town, do stop by our boutique- we would love to hear all about your wedding plans.
